Cadillac is committed to a zero-crash future where collisions will be impossible due to advanced driver assistance safety features. The 2025 Cadillac OPTIQ embodies this, as it contains cutting-edge protection for you and your passengers. We’re going to look at how some of these features work.
Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking
This feature uses a forward-facing camera that watches the areas to the left and right of your Cadillac for oncoming vehicles. It’s very useful at intersections in the city, as you can’t always immediately spot a fast-moving vehicle that will cross your path. If something is detected, a red warning icon will appear on your screen, and you’ll hear three beeps that sound to the left or right to highlight the vehicle’s direction.
If you’re unable to react fast enough to the threat, this system will apply emergency braking to stop your Cadillac and prevent a collision. This system can also provide low-speed left-turn assistance at an intersection, as it continues to monitor oncoming traffic as you turn.
Lane Keep Assist (LKA) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
These two systems work together to keep you safely centered in your lane and will alert you if you’re about to move out of your lane without actively steering. LKA uses a dedicated camera that scans the road surface for lane line markings. When the markings are detected, you’ll see a green car icon with a line on either side on your screen to show the system is active.
If your Cadillac drifts toward either lane line, the steering wheel will gently pull you in the correct direction to move you back into your lane. If this doesn’t work, LDW activates if you cross the lane line. It displays a flashing yellow LKA icon on your screen, and you’ll hear three beeps or feel three seat pulses from the direction of movement to alert you to turn back into your lane.
Rear Cross Traffic Braking
Backing out of a parking space can be dangerous, as you might not be able to see a vehicle that will pass behind you. When you shift into REVERSE, this system automatically activates and uses radar sensors located in the rear bumpers to scan the area to the left and right behind you. If an approaching vehicle is detected, a red warning triangle appears on your screen to highlight the direction the vehicle is approaching from.
You’ll also hear three directional beeps or feel three seat pulses on the side of your seat corresponding to the oncoming vehicle’s direction. If you’re unable to hit the brakes in time, the system automatically applies hard braking to prevent a collision.
